E-mail Print PDF

Christmas 2011

The Christmas Riverboat Association is hosting it's annual toy drive to benefit local kids and teenagers.  So far, we've collected fishing poles, pocket knives, digital cameras, mp3 players, toy cars and trucks, dart boards, and baby dolls. These items (over 100 so far) will be distributed thoughout our local community. We're still collecting, so you can still join in and help bring some holiday happiness to a kid or teenager. Toys can be brought to a Christmas Riverboat Association monthly meeting, or dropped off at the Midway Fish Camp during normal business hours.

Community Flashback

The St. Johns River was an integral part of the lives of the Christmas pioneer families.  Community Flashback
They would take their families and camp at the river for days, weeks or even a month or more hunting, fishing and trapping for food and to sell the hides.  They cooked over an open fire and lived in a tent during their stay at the river.  This was just a part of the way of life for the early residents of Christmas.  The St. John's River provided food, a way of making a living, and a means of receiving needed supplies.
